The Monastery's Manuscripts, Icons & Archives
Around fifty manuscripts remain in the monastery today. They are currently being curated at the Saint Joseph of Damascus Manuscripts Centre in Balamand and predominantly consist of liturgical texts, biblical commentaries, patristic sermons and spiritual writings. Some of these manuscripts contain annotations, notes and names of monks who lived in the monastery, as well as some of its visitors.
In the archives of Beirut, we have found valuable information about the daily life of the monastery, especially between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These archives include correspondence between the Bishop of Beirut and the monastery, as well as details about the monastery's activities and purchases during that time.
